AT: Spring Cure – light therapy for my bedroom
the original lighting of my aprt was almost perfect for me, considering many ugly and odd settings in other rentals i’ve seen….i even have a dimmer control for the living room so it is really kinda good!so i have not much need to change after moving in except that with my bedroom.
there is no overhead lighting for my bedroom but a very ugly, totally not matching the whole aprt, gold & bronze wall lamp on one side of my bed. it is very very strong and u can only keep it all on or totally dark out….
i don’t really want to spend extra to replace it, esp it is functioning well. So i decided to give it a re-do – with some leftover paper cookie cups, a tear-off page from an extraordinary pretty old calendar , a pair of scissors and a gluestick, i gave my ugly old lamp a chic, romantic new “shade” in barely 15 mins
we don’t really have the luxury of a proper entryway in hk…not just becos of the apt size but usually the floorplan of our aprt are oddly designed for different reasons…..so for my place, i tried and error different ways of landing strip and i think this time might be nearest to what i want…
So Step 1…i changed a bit for the living room and “entryway” layout.
my workspace corner is almost right next to my main door, where i have an open shelf from Muji which stored my files, art supplies and my printing stations which is suppose to be a trolley (so u can move it out and around…). My old setting didn’t work well becos’ the shelf was against the wall and created strange cluttering spaces which can’t be used the odd angle between the shelf & the catch-all spot make it not easy to pull out the filing box and printing stations from the shelf…hence i start piling stuff which suppose to go on the shelf or drawers ends up piling around that dead spot…
So what i do is moving the shelf off the wall and make it perpendicular against the side table i put at entryway. The side table instead of being right next to the main door, i move it down a bit and thus so the new space created is reachable and can put the coat hanger there for collecting everything suppose to put down when getting back home.
Here showing the newly create space for hanging coats and bags and everything. Also i’ve utilize the back and side of the shelf by putting up 2 noticeboard for receipts, notes, pictures….etc and also a bathroom storage pocket from Ikea which can carry recycle bags, umbrellas, sunglasses…and other occasionally items. So i can swiftly grab these “essentials” stuff when getting out instead of searching around the house
the “catch-all” tabletop is actually made by a board which i used as wall-mount shelf in my old home. I put it on two spare cheap cupboard i found in local store and cover with Ikea fabric. Most of the catchall holders on the table are re-purposed from my old desk, bathroom or closet after i emptying my outbox
this lovely light used to be on my nightstand but it is not good for bedtime reading, so i move it here to give a warming welcome at the spot. New item here is the cookie jar for tissues and coins and the blue dotted slim tray i also found in Ikea. they matched perfectly here i think….
The fabric covering the shoe storing space under the entry way. I put my everyday or guest’s shoes here. the small cupboard can also store shoe cleaning items or small bags. I used big pot holders which i found in local japanese homeware shop (which are super cheap and very very good quality) for storing shoes and boots here…

AT:Spring Cure – Vision and Mission
i’ve moved in for just one year now….in the past 12 months i kinda try my very best to keep it neat and organized (well as organized as possible
) but now this is a time for a change or i should say make it even more lovable?
my mission for this spring cure is turning my single girl home into a cosy yet chic place where my man can stay over while i can still keep my “presense” in it
So lotta things to do on my lilst:
1. the place is 80% organized, now i wanna turn the remaining 10% which include my kitchen cabinet, my bathroom and the strange and unused corners in my bedroom into both organized and functional spots
2. creating a comfy nook for reading and meditation
3. remove the unattended eyesore spots like…too many to name…
4. for a while i’m obsessed and dedicated to make my apartment in pure white, now it is time to bring in more colors. i wanna make it romantic yet not too girly
5. from only one desk to share everything, wanna keep the spot in living room for computer and other “works” and create a corner elsewhere for me to draw and do any other artsy thing
6. keep on decluttering….and find a good place for everything that i find useless but really really don’t wanna throw away
7. last but super important, i don’t feel comfortable with my current landing strip, i dunno how to deal with it but i’ll deal with it finally, i swear!
Okee….start working on this now and pray for me so i will make these all happen haha….now off to shuffle a bit with my inspiratiion profile and look for my vision!
Q on Week #1
